Last week several Aries staff attended the STM U.S. Annual Conference in Washington, DC. With a focus on new technology, innovation, and collaboration, the conference agenda featured speakers from several industry leaders (including some Aries partners and Elsevier colleagues).
Tony Alves, Director of Product Management, was among the Aries staff attending. “I love Innovations Day,” said Tony. “I always look forward to the Future Lab’s big reveal and Eefke Smit’s enthusiastic walkthrough of the new Tech Trends poster. This year’s theme of ‘Collaboration’ was spot-on from what I am hearing and experiencing. Open science is a collaborative effort–trust and integrity are integral elements to the entire industry–and I’m particularly interested in the emphasis on collaborative infrastructure, which is an endeavor that I have been involved in for a long time,” Tony continued. “The poster they had was a fun way to visualize the trends! As a developer of a peer review tracking system, I got a lot out of the panel on peer review innovations. Hearing direct experience from people engaged in open and transparent peer review experiments was useful as we expand our system’s capabilities. Also, the ideas around peer review for preprints and paid peer review caught my attention.” View the Tech Trends poster here.
Other members of the Aries team present included Aries COO Jennifer Fleet, Director of Sales Jake Kelleher, Client Development Manager Bob Donegan, and Director of Client Services Kate Horgan.
