Did you know? Editorial Manager “fetches” ORCIDs

ORCID is an open standard used to uniquely identify manuscript contributors. EM enables ORCID integration at manuscript submission and during peer review.

In some cases, the ORCID number can be directly input (and verified) by the individual owner of the ORCID. However, in peer review, there are many instances in which users need to enter other people’s ORCID numbers. For example, an author may need to enter ORCID numbers for co-authors. In this instance, EM provides a convenient “fetch” link so that the correct ORCID number can be identified and selected from the ORCID database.

Come and learn more about this at EMUG 2013.

Ingesting email in Editorial Manager

Ingesting email is not a new disease of the technology era! On the contrary, it’s a new feature in Editorial Manager that helps manage and store emails that are sent to journal staff outside of the system in reply to EM-generated emails. In Version 10.0, emails can be sent to a journal-specific email address and EM will automatically associate and store them (including attachments) with the appropriate manuscript “history” – no more cutting and pasting.
