Successful European User Group Meeting Features Presentation on Conference Proceedings Workflow

London-Clock-MoonA highlight of the successful European User Group Meeting (held in London on December 4, 2009) was an insightful presentation made by Graham Douglas of the Institute of Physics Publishing. Graham (fresh from America on the “red eye”) described how he configures Editorial Manager to process physics conference proceedings. The majority of attendees rated the meeting as very useful. One commented “Extremely useful and practical day – one of the best you have organized. Excellent!” Another attendee commented on EM’s configuration options, “It’s incredibly useful to be able to completely customize features to suit the requirements of each particular journal.” If you would like to be notified of future User Group meetings please send an email to marketing@edmgr.com

Version 7.2 Includes Many Features Requested at User Group Meetings

EEMUG2009Version 7.2 has entered general release and Aries Account Coordinators are contacting journals to schedule updates. The new release includes numerous features requested at EMUG (user group) meetings. For example, journal offices now have a more convenient solution for adding externally received email to the EM manuscript record. Journals have a broader range of reviewer reminder options, including an unlimited number of automated reminders. Individual review status information is displayed in appropriate folders. “Flags” can be associated with specific manuscript metadata. Version 7.2 demonstrates Aries System’s commitment to addressing user requirements in an entrepreneurial and dynamic manner.

laptop-reviewer-man-writing91% of authors believe that their last paper was improved as a result of peer review. In addition, 73% of reviewers believe that technological advances have made it easier to do a more thorough job of reviewing. 84% believe that without peer review there would be no control of scientific communication. These, and many other interesting findings, can be found in a recent study that explores attitudes of authors, reviewers, and editors. The report also identifies likely future trends.
