Did You Know?

Did you know that you can use Editorial Manager’s file inventory anytime to store non-manuscript files, and ultimately to export, if needed to a third party system?

For example, you can create a submission item to accommodate a copy edited version of the manuscript in the file inventory. To do this, configure a submission item type so that the PDF handling designation is set to “Companion File (not built into PDF)” or ask your AC for assistance.

As companion files, post-acceptance files can be included in exports, color coded for fast recognition, and can be replaced as needed in the file inventory.

Cell Press on Editorial Manager’s Submission Transfer Functionality

CELL-JournalCoverCell Press encourages manuscript transfers between titles. Rather than asking editors to make transfer decisions on behalf of authors, authors are empowered to drive the process and control their paper’s “destiny.”

“The new features that Editorial Manager has rolled out around journal-to-journal transfer have made this process extremely convenient and easy,” commented Patrick Hannon, Editorial Operations Manager. “The introduction of ‘Reject and Transfer’ decision types, along with the ability to give authors several journals they could transfer to, has allowed us to rapidly roll this process out. In addition, having the original decision letter and reviewer comments available at the ‘new’ journal has made the evaluation process much easier. After years of laboring to track transfers by hand, having an automated system has made everyone’s life much easier and has helped us provide the best author service possible.”
