Is the SWORD Protocol of Interest to Journals?

SwordSWORD is a UK, JISC-funded initiative to define and develop a standard mechanism for depositing content (e.g. author manuscripts) into Institutional Repositories (IRs). The Aries product management team would like to know your opinions about the SWORD protocol. Would you like to see it supported in journal workflow? Are authors asking for this feature? At what point would you make the deposit? Send an email to marketing@edmgr.com with your opinions.

Preprint Manager Production Tracking Provides More Workflow Control for Ophthalmology Publisher

LuciaSteele-headshotSince Wichtig Editore deployed Editorial Manager in 2007, the Milan based publisher has experienced an increase in both the quantity (50%) and quality of submissions. To help manage the increase, the publisher deployed Preprint Manager approximately nine months ago. According to Lucia Steele, Publisher at Wichtig Editore, using PM has “significantly improved and speeded up our production workflows.” Observing that all communication, co-ordination and workflow control is undertaken in the system, she added “We can now more easily see which task is behind schedule and where the snag is. Before, you never knew exactly which job in production was behind the schedule”. Contact marketing@edmgr.com for a demonstration of Preprint Manager Production Tracking.
