Editorial Manager’s reference-processing module automatically links author-submitted bibliographies to PubMed and CrossRef. As part of this process, journal staff is alerted to citation errors including citations to retracted papers. Aries is pleased to announce that the Botanical Society of America has chosen Editorial Manager as the workflow solution for its new peer-reviewed journal scheduled to debut in January 2013, Applications in Plant Sciences (APPS). The society’s two other publications, American Journal of Botany and Plant Science Bulletin, also use EM.

In October, Aries customers in the Washington, D.C., area organized and gathered for the first localized Enterprise Analytics Reporting (an extended reporting module within Editorial Manager) meetup. Eight EM users attended and decided tentatively to meet once a month on an ongoing basis. Future meetings may include individual presentations on specified EAR and EM topics, case studies addressing non-routine reporting needs, and a general discussion of editorial office issues.
