Aries Systems Announces Partnership with AAMC for Streamlined Disclosure Workflow Solution for Publishers

June 8, 2020 | North Andover, Massachusetts –

Aries Systems Corporation, a leading scholarly publishing technology workflow solutions provider, is pleased to announce a collaboration with Convey®, the global disclosure system provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), a non-profit association dedicated to transforming health care through innovative medical education, cutting-edge patient care, and groundbreaking medical research.

Journals often see many discrepancies from one manuscript to the next due to inconsistent disclosures completed by Authors. The Convey service, a web-based centralized data repository for disclosures, promotes consistency and transparency of industry relationship information across organizations. The collaboration will provide an opportunity for integration of Convey® with Editorial Manager®, Aries’ manuscript submission and peer review tracking system, to help publishers seamlessly manage their conflict of interest collection and reporting without disrupting their current workflows.

The integration will allow Editorial Manager users to automatically pull relevant data stored within the Convey repository, enhancing their current disclosure collection process. All key data can be entered and accessed in a single place, eliminating the need for Authors to fill out questionnaires across multiple journals and for Editors to manually sift through PDF manuscript submissions, saving both parties valuable time and resources. With this streamlined disclosure workflow, Authors, Editors, and Reviewers now have visibility into key metadata and subsequent disclosure reports. In addition, Convey can be tailored to each publication’s unique disclosure policies, making this a flexible and efficient disclosure solution for publishers.

Aries Director of Product Management Tony Alves stated, “Disclosing conflicts of interest is an important part of peer review. Authors have expressed frustration with having to repeatedly provide COI information during the submission process and are often confused by which relationships need to be disclosed. Convey is a valuable centralized solution that helps researchers track and disclose potential conflicts in one place. We have heard from many journals that they are interested in integrating Convey into their workflow, and I am really pleased to be able to offer this integration in EM!”

The Convey and Editorial Manager integration will become available with the release of Editorial Manager/ProduXion Manager version 17.0.
