DAY 1, SESSION #2 | Maximizing End-to-End OA Metadata Management

Evolution of the Aries and OA Switchboard comprehensive metadata solution to better control the open data ecosystem, integrity and identity, and workflow interoperability.

 

Yvonne Campfens, OA Switchboard (OAS)

Yvonne Campfens holds a MSc Econometrics degree from University of Amsterdam, and has worked in academic publishing and related service sectors for 30 years (Elsevier, Swets Subscription Services, Bohn Stafleu van Loghum/Springer Media, Springer Nature). She was involved in collaborative and workflow solutions like ASA model licenses (1999), ALPSP Learned Journal Collection (2004) and TRANSFER Code of Practice (2009). In 2018, she started her own consultancy business, and has been involved with OA Switchboard since 2019. In 2020 she was appointed Executive Director of Stichting (‘foundation’) OA Switchboard.

 

 

DAY 2, SESSION #1 | Collaborating for Research Integrity

Introduction to exciting new integrations with Clear Skies and Cactus Communications to help drive quality and integrity in research during the editorial workflow.

 

Adam Day, Clear Skies

Adam Day is the founder and CEO of Clear Skies. Clear Skies created the first service for detection of organised research fraud: the Papermill Alarm. Adam was introduced to machine learning as a physics undergraduate and has worked extensively in the research integrity space as both a journal editor at IOP Publishing and as a data scientist at Sage Publications.

 

Dr. Shilpi Mehra, Cactus Communications (CACTUS)

Shilpi Mehra heads Research Integrity and Paperpal Preflight at Cactus Communications, bringing over a decade of experience in research and academia. She has a background in Dentistry and advanced degrees in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Boston University and the Free University of Amsterdam. Shilpi has previously worked with the National Health Service (NHS) and Imperial College London, focusing on public health research management. At Cactus, Shilpi is committed to enhancing research integrity by leading initiatives like Paperpal Preflight, that support authors and publishers in maintaining high ethical standards, while improving quality of submissions. Her commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity helps ensure that research is impactful and trustworthy, ultimately strengthening the credibility of scholarly publishing.​

 

DAY 3, SESSION #1 | Solutions Showcase: Customer Success Stories

Panel of client case studies on innovative tools for securing Reviewers, streamlining editorial tasks, and Reviewer recognition.

 

Sara Yow, Cell Press

Sara Yow is a Senior Editorial Operations Supervisor at Cell Press with over 10 years of experience. After graduating from Simmons University, she started her career in scientific publishing at Cell Press. Sara has worked on a number of journals across the portfolio as well as Cell Press Sneak Peek. She has also worked on projects focused on operational excellence and improving the author experience.

 

Astrid Meyer, Penn State University Press (PSUP)

Astrid Meyer has been in academic publishing for 20 years, initially at Oxford University Press, Southern Africa as commissioning editor and since 2012 at Penn State University Press as Journals Managing Editor.

 

 

Jon Perkins, American Medical Association (AMA)

As Director of Product Management at the American Medical Association, Jon Perkins leads cross-functional teams to deliver innovative digital solutions that support medical education and improve healthcare outcomes. With a strong background in product strategy, user-centered design, and stakeholder collaboration, Jon focuses on building products that create real impact for physicians, patients, and the healthcare ecosystem.
