Meet the Aries Team: Kelsi Massicotte, Account Specialist

Tell us a little about yourself – how long have you been working for Aries? What did you do before joining Aries?

I started working for Aries in late October 2019. My father, Bob Massicotte, has been with Aries for over 20 years and when I heard Aries was hiring, I jumped at the opportunity! I knew I wanted to work in a collaborative environment that allowed me to grow and develop. Before Aries, I worked as a customer service representative for a small global shipping company. I was hired as an Account Specialist on the Aries Client Services team, brought on to assist with Elsevier support.

How have your previous roles helped you in your current position?

Working for a global shipping company gave me the opportunity to provide customer service to a wide range of international clientele. I was able to form close relationships with my customers and learn about different cultures. The customer service department was very lean (four people including myself), and the way we handled support queries and requests is very similar to how I work with the Elsevier team.

How do you collaborate with other departments within Aries?

Client Services collaborates with every department. Most of my cross-departmental collaboration is conducted via email. In some instances, I will reach out to multiple departments to solve a problem. For example, I may reach out to Product Management to get clarification on specific functionality and then work with Quality Assurance to ensure its tested. Each department is a unique piece of the Aries puzzle and we all work together to create the bigger picture.

Tell me about your department and the people you work most closely with.

I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Aries Client Services department! Everyone is extremely dedicated to helping our customers and providing support for one another. If I have a question or need another set of eyes on an issue, I know I can contact anyone in my department and they would do everything they could to help.

I work closest with my Elsevier Support teammates, which consists of an Account Manager, Senior Account Coordinator, and Account Coordinator, based in both the US and UK. I’m so grateful to be a part of this team! They have taught me so much and I would not be where I am without their guidance and support.

Describe your typical workday.

I typically meet every morning with my team to discuss the work we have for the day. If I do not have any other meetings, the rest of my day is spent working on my assigned tasks and any special projects I may have.

What do you most enjoy about your job? What do you enjoy most about working for Aries?

I really enjoy the problem-solving aspect. I love dissecting a complicated issue and gaining a deeper understanding for how things work. I tend to think outside of the box which has helped me come up with creative solutions.

What are you currently reading, listening to, or watching?

I absolutely love documentaries and have watched almost every one on Netflix. Whether it’s a documentary about the Earth, food, or de-classified files about UFO’s, I have probably watched it!

Tell me about some of your hobbies/interests outside of work.

I spend a lot of my time with my dog, Frank. I also really enjoy music. I got my first guitar when I was seven. Unfortunately, I spent too much time singing the songs than actually learning to play! Now I have two ukuleles and a keyboard at home. I am definitely an amateur musician but I love to cover songs in my spare time.
