At the June Aries Industry Advisory Board (AIAB) meeting, Alice Meadows, Director of Community Engagement, NISO and SSP President (2021-22), joined as our guest speaker, leading an exploratory discussion on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in scholarly publishing. Board members from leading industry organizations shared their current and future ideas and plans on how to care for DEI in their businesses and the industry at large.
In honor of the seventh annual Peer Review Week (PRW), we’d like to continue this discussion with the wider community! Join the conversation in our highly-interactive webinar, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Scholarly Publishing, moderated by Aries Systems and Alice Meadows. The session, designed for attendees to actively participate and engage through thought-provoking questions and prompts, will be held on Thursday, September 23rd at 10am ET – free of charge!
Topics to be discussed include:
- Definitions of diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility
- Why DEI matters in scholarly publishing and peer review
- Current shifts, addressing bias, and benchmarking and measurement
- Concrete ways that the community can support DEI
We want to hear from you — so don’t miss this interactive session for your chance to contribute to the discussion! Register for free today!
PRW 2021, held from September 20th-24th, will be dedicated to the theme “Identity in Peer Review,” as selected via an international survey opened to the publishing community earlier this year. More than 35 participating organizations are collaborating to organize this global event.
